Webinar: Foreign Ownership Of U.S. Farmland - Overview Of State And Federal Regulations

There has been a fair amount of concern about foreign ownership of land in Montana, especially from counties adversarial to the US, especially since the Chinese balloon was spotted over Montana in early 2023.

The American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) is presenting a one-hour webinar on the foreign ownership of US lands.

This presentation will cover the regulatory landscape applicable to foreign owners and tenants of U.S. agricultural land, with a focus on the Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act of 1978 (AFIDA), state statutory AFIDA equivalents and recent legislation with respect to each of the foregoing.

Speaker: Marisa Bocci is a partner at K&L Gates LLP. She handles transactions across the country involving the purchase, sale, leasing and financing of farmland and other agribusiness assets. Many of her clients are family offices, pension funds, investment management organizations, and private equity firms. A significant number of her clients are involved in cross-border investment in U.S. farmland assets; she advises on their AFIDA and state equivalent regulatory compliance.

Cost: FREE for ASFMRA Members; $25 for Non-Members
