Once monthly, usually the second Wednesday of each month, the Southwest Montana Farm & Ranch Brokers meet at noon in Bozeman at the Holiday Inn. At the meetings, brokers and other rural real estate professionals get together to network, hear a presentation on topics relative to the rural Montana land market, and to share new listings as well as to discuss properties they are looking for on behalf of buyers. Montana Land Source is utilized at the meetings to show maps of new land listings. Non-members are welcome to attend, and lunch is available.

We are happy to welcome Christopher P. Hahn, Ph.D., MBA,
Facilitator, Professional Mediator, and Consultant who will discuss
“Mediating Land & Water Disputes.”
Chris Hahn began his career in the natural resources business as a Landman for CONOCO. He was responsible for all title work, land acquisition, and exploration permitting in the region. He moved to precious metals exploration for Homestake Mining Company, where he eventually became Manager of Mineral Lands.
After leaving minerals exploration, Chris gained a diversified background that allows unique perspectives on a wide range of team and consensus-building opportunities, leading to his career as a mediator and facilitator. He has always maintained an interest in rural land, natural resources, and water. His earlier career includes various business, nonprofit, and R & D experiences (Hahn, et al., patent 6,725,446 is a software-based information distribution platform).
Chris currently works in various settings as a facilitator, professional mediator, and consultant. This includes governmental work at federal, state, and local levels; confidentially mediating a wide variety of disputes; and a providing facilitation services for corporations and government agencies. He has an ongoing contract as a facilitator with the Montana Supreme Court.
Chris is a Certified Mediator, with the Montana Mediation Association, and he is on North Dakota’s Supreme Court roster as a Mediator. He has special mediation certifications for water rights and family mediations. He has served on the Board of the Montana Mediation Association and was the President of the Board of the Community Mediation Center, Bozeman, MT.
He has a bachelor’s degree, in Geology, from Hope College (Holland, MI) and an MBA from Arizona State University (Tempe), and a Ph.D., in Human Services, from Capella University (Minneapolis). As a post-doc project, he published a graduate-level research methods textbook for Sage Publications (London), called Doing Qualitative Research Using Your Computer.
